Vinyl

The majority of vinyl covers used nowadays for dubstep have different qualities to them. the first one is very home based by the look of things I want to avoid producing something that looks so compressed.

I want to aim atowards producing something like this, I think it is very coo how it is illustrated and sends a message, not a good one but still a firm bad ass kind of impression, the type and linear in the top middle look really well together and give it a almost western kind of feel.

Simple and plain looks really good and just shows that you don't need to design something outrageous to get a good result.

pasteman dub

Pasteman is a dub dj based in Leeds

Dubstep is big clear and bold in visual.

Below is an image of the most common graphic relation to dubstep, clear bold big type with big red lines

I want to incorporate this into a logo without doing so in such a manor I would like to mix old school in with new.

promototional

Some of the best things you can get for promotional work are the cheapest things, in this case promotional badges and stickers are a great viral way to advertise as they pretty much last forever if placed in the correct place.

blink 182

Blink-182 is an American pop punk band from San Diego, California, formed in 1992.[1] The band formed as "Blink" with vocalist and bass player Mark Hoppus, vocalist and guitarist Tom DeLonge and (former) drummer Scott Raynor. In 1998, midway through a U.S. tour, current drummer Travis Barker replaced Scott Raynor.
The group formed in the Poway suburb of San Diego in the early 1990s, and released several self-recorded demo tapes, promoting them with various shows around the San Diego area. After releasing debut album Cheshire Cat (1994), the band achieved moderate success with Dude Ranch (1997), now having sold over a million copies. However, the trio achieved even greater success with the multi-platinum selling Enema of the State (1999). The band gained popularity for their irreverent sense of humor, displayed in the music videos for "All the Small Things" and "What's My Age Again". Their following two albums maintained their success; Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001) and Blink-182 (2003) before DeLonge left the group in early 2005, initiating an indefinite hiatus. DeLonge went on to form Angels & Airwaves, while Hoppus and Barker continued playing music together in +44. After Travis Barker almost died in a plane crash, Blink-182 reunited in February 2009 and a new album is in the works.[2]
Blink-182 has sold over 25 million albums worldwide.[3][4][5]

After being expelled from Poway High School for showing up drunk at a basketball game, Tom DeLonge attended Rancho Bernardo High School where he became friends with Anne Hoppus. DeLonge often expressed the desire to be in a band, so in August 1992 Anne introduced him to her brother Mark Hoppus, who also wanted to be in a band.[6] The two played for hours in DeLonge's garage, showing each other songs they had previously written, and writing new songs together - one of which would become the track "Carousel".[6] To impress DeLonge, Hoppus climbed to the top of a streetlight outside of DeLonge's home - however, he broke both ankles on the way down, resulting in being in crutches for the next few weeks.[6] The two decided they needed to officially start a band, so DeLonge recruited friend Scott Raynor, who he had met at a party.[7] The three began playing together and called themselves Duck Tape, until DeLonge thought of the name Blink.[6]

The band gained notoriety for humorous stage shows and eventually was signed to small record label Cargo Music, where they released their first full-length album, Cheshire Cat, in February 1994. Recorded in three days and fueled by both new songs and re-recordings of songs from previous demos, Blink began to gain fame outside of California throughout 1995 and 1996. "M+M's" and "Wasting Time" from Cheshire Cat were released as singles, but both failed to chart. Although the album never made a commercial impact, it is cited by bands and fans as an iconic release.[10]

Blink 182

The reason I chose the band blink 182 is because they had a impact on me as a teenager and changed my perspective on the music industry and what it is and what it could be, blink 182 write music about being a teenager and dealing with problems to do with growing up in a fun way, these three role models create music in such a way that it has changed and helped a lot of people deal with growing up.

They are a humorous band whom enjoy having a laugh with all their work.

I chose blink because they have the balls in which diesel was stating earlier.

I want to draw something up using vector illustration

This is one of their band posters which looks un real I love the detail and how the colours make it such a strong piece.

Live

For briefs to do with music, live is always the best thing to look at in advertising, for diesel and SYA I believe that advertisements in places like this are the ones which stick the most.

The banners make it so special and the crowd makes the experience an experience, millions of people joining together to listen to live music, music is power.

These are prime advertising banners for Leeds fest, the same thing can be used to advertise products/ illustrations to do with bands.

tin context

For the case of the tattoo book, the context of the illustration would be on the person

This is the imagery were the drawings on the right get scanned in and then altered in scale ready to place a transfer.

This is the environment in which the tattoo book would be displayed in at a studio

Pre existing

The best thing about wedding cards in my opinion is the stock used, I think that it will be a great idea to use a hand made kind of card with a faint colour.

this is to corny for my liking and the typeface is to hard to read

this is to much like a love card not an invitation

This is that kind of invitation I would like to produce in a pink peach with some brown type over, clear.

invites and warrior

A lot of 269's contextual information must be kept private for security reasons so the main areas I have to research are the details needed for the form like below:
certain things need to be down in the details such as the time and place, how many guests and wether they will be attending or not.

The theme is for christmas but it is a warrior themed party.

I want to mix the warrior in with the christmas theme I want to produce a product which incorporates 300 but rather than 300, 269.

I will be using a spartan theme for my warrior design and will be changing the 300 type to 269 in the same kind of style.

packaging

This is an amazing idea which I would like to take further, it works well as it is a simple print on a disposable item and would be cheap to produce and so effective in the long run.

Packaging for disposable products are all pretty much the same, wrapped in plastic with a label or logo on the front to show what it is, I would like to keep mine similar to this but more haunting and interesting.

Ejaculate into a sock

The first idea that came into my head for this illustration was to do a bit of research on sock puppets, as i don't want the image to be to forward.

These are just a few images I found on the internet to get a little bit of inspiration before I started drawing out a series of sock puppets.

The way I think of it, I am going to be creating some very unhappy sock characters

I need to think bout what characteristics it will have, what would it look like, and its texture

It's not going to be clean I know that much.

Context

I want to distribute my deign in a few different ways, one will be via poster of a unknown scale at the moment in time, I would like these posters o be put up in various rock clubs throughout the UK and places in which music matters such as gig line ups, in Leeds:

Dry dock
Cockpit
Joseph Wells
Carpe Diem
O2

I really want an interesting limited coloured piece that looks cool, and with some hand type.

I really like this and how it works compositionally.

Another form of distribution will be via t shirts which can be sold online and could advertised the most unlikely wearers which contradict what the t-shirt says.

Happy holidays, you bastard

I chose this blink 182 song in particular because of the way it makes people feel when they hear it, especially for the first time, This song will take the listener by surprise as it is a humour song, with a meaning which people can relate to around christmas time which is stress.
It seemed an appropriate choice because of it being November and relevant to the season.

Mark Hoppus refers to his grandfather in these lyrics to being old whereas in the song Stockholm syndrome he sees his grandfather in a heroic different light:

"The beginning of this song has letters that my grandfather wrote to my grandmother in World War II. Joanne Thalley came into the studio and read them. The song itself is about paranoia. Being afraid of the outside world convinced that people can hear your thoughts." (thanks, Tim - Pittsburgh, PA)

Below are a few lines wrote about the song and peoples opinions on them, this is the reason I am choosing Blink 182 and this song.

The band

Be stupid.

Blink 182 are one of my biggest inspirations in music and how they are as people, the music they have produced has changed a lot of peoples lives and a lot of people can relate to the songs, I have chose to take the more serious blink and put it a side and instead choose the music which they had the balls to release on their CD's without any idea of what the audience would think about songs to do with fucking dogs, blow jobs off dads and hand jobs off mums, a lot of the music relates to being young and having the heart to make mistakes, be creative and have fun.

The main way this project is going to work is if the context of the illustration works towards were it will be placed, it needs to be relevant and somewhere the target audience will see it.

looking into illustration, I want to focus this project within the return of blink 182 and I want to do things in the similar fun way as this album cover although the song is actually off their 4th album 'Take off your pants and jacket'

These are the members:
Tom Delonge
Travis Barker and
Mark Hoppus

Looking into a way of packaging that blink have already done. a cd case in the memory of one of the hit songs off take off your pants and jacket, Whats my age again?

T shirts are another way of production in which people will see the work
